A Birth of Shalom

The word shalom is the Hebrew word for peace. As a midwife it is my hope that your birth will be peaceful. I believe it is best to have two sets of hands at a birth.  This way we are able to give each other a rest during a long labor and there is a midwife to care for you and a midwife to care for your baby if there happened to be a need for that. If it can be arranged you will get a chance to meet the other midwife at one of your prenatal appointments as well as at your birth.  The apprentices working with me are all trained in Neonatal Resuscitaion  just as I am.

Things that lend to a peaceful birth are knowledge about the birth process, the ability to relax, a supportive birth team, and freedom from negative influences.  I highly recommend Happy Homebirth Academy, Birth Boot Camp or Hypnobirthing as an excellent way to prepare for your upcoming birth. First Time mothers or VBAC clients are required to take part in a birth class. It needs to have a focus on out of hospital births. I will add it to your total fee.  Doula support can be very helpful, especially for first time moms or VBAC clients.
